Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind Wants to let you know that Free Cell Phone Service, and Accessible Phones, Are Now Available to Qualifying Blind Residents of Maryland

Good news! Residents of Maryland may be eligible for a FREE or DISCOUNTED accessible cell phone AND FREE cell phone service every month! This government benefit, called Lifeline, is a federal program designed to help low income individuals.
If you qualify to participate in this program, you can choose between two options:
- A FREE Emporia Essence cell phone (regularly $49), plus FREE 500 minutes or text messages each month. Under this option, there is no cost to you whatsoever!
OR
- A DISCOUNTED ODIN VI cell phone for $110 (regularly $150), plus FREE 500 minutes or text messages each month
The ODIN VI is a basic mobile phone with buttons that is entirely accessible. It will allow you to enter contacts, text message, check missed calls and more. Everything speaks! To participate in this program, you must be on at least one public assistance program, such as Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medical Assistance, Food Stamps, the Maryland Energy Assistance Program or the Electrical Universal Service Program.
